Chartreuse House is a renovation and addition resulting in an extensive transformation of an existing craftsman bungalow. The facade and massing are maintained in scale with the Venice walk street location. The loft-like interior volumes merge ideas of industrial and craftsman through the use of materials. Traditional layout of private and public spaces is reversed to maximize connections between the courtyard and open living space. A floating roof and clerestories provide diffuse studio light while the same structure acts as enclosure for a roof deck.
